  • Pulses, rice, maize and cassava constitute the largest portion of Tanzania’s crop production.
  • Favorable agroecological conditions provide a high potential opportunity to increase production of other crops such as avocado, sunflower, coffee, wheat among other crops.
  • Within livestock, beef and dairy products comprise the majority of production, given the relatively large population of cattle (second largest on the continent).
  • Capture fishing constitutes the predominant portion of fishing production, accounting for approximately 94%, while aquaculture contributes ~ 6%.


Our support to Tanzania 

On Tuesday 5th September 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture together with the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries and the African Agricultural Transformation Initiative (AATI) launched the Agriculture Transformation Office (ATO), Tanzania. The ATO will support the implementation and monitoring of the Agriculture Masterplan.
